Mission : Students will explore the foundational principles of pictorial composition through collaborative, hands-on artmaking. Working in small teams, they will use cut-paper techniques to create dynamic designs that demonstrate balance, movement, focal point, contrast, and unity.

Learning Objectives :

• Identify and analyze the principles of pictorial composition, including balance, movement, focal point, contrast, and unity, through the study of reference artists

• Collaborate effectively in peer teams to brainstorm, plan, and create a cut-paper composition that applies these principles

• Demonstrate the principles of composition by arranging cut-paper shapes in a way that creates a visually engaging and balanced design

• Use critical thinking and discussion during a group critique, articulating the strengths and areas for improvement in their own work and the work of their peers
