My work as an artist is where my teaching begins. I move across the disciplines of assemblage, mixed media, and sound, guided by the belief that materials hold stories and that art emerges through listening as much as directing. I approach each piece as a conversation with what the material offers, allowing meaning to surface rather than forcing it into place.
My background in music, especially improvisation, shapes the my approach to the work. I am attentive to rhythm, pause, and resonance, letting sequences of color, density, and texture function like voices in a choir. My practice invites viewers into moments of reflection, asking them to notice what is present, what is possible, and what is quietly asking to be seen.
The same dispositions that anchor my studio practice form the core of my identity as an educator : curiosity, responsiveness, flexibility, and openness to uncertainty. My art practice and my teaching are intertwined, each deepening the other.
